Homeowners,
We’ve seen an increase in recycling contamination and overfilled containers throughout the community, so we want to send a quick reminder of what can and cannot go in your recycling—and a few important expectations.
First, you may have noticed that everyone’s bill with Waste Management (WM) has increased. Avoiding contamination and following proper guidelines helps reduce unnecessary costs and service issues.
What CAN be recycled:
- Plastic bottles, cups, and containers
- Food and beverage cans
- Flattened cardboard and paperboard
- Paper and paper cups
What CANNOT be recycled:
- NO glass bottles or containers
- NO food or liquids (containers must be empty)
- NO pizza boxes
- NO plastic bags or bagged recyclables
- NO foam cups, containers, or straws
- NO paper towels, napkins, or tissues
- NO clothing, textiles, or rugs
- NO batteries, electronics, or hazardous materials
- NO yard waste or construction debris
If in doubt, it’s better to throw it away than contaminate the recycling.
Important Reminders:
- Do not overfill your trash or recycling cans. Lids must be able to fully close.
- If items fall out due to overfilled containers or wind, you are responsible for cleaning it up.
- Recyclables should be placed loose in the bin—not in bags.
For more detailed information, please review WM’s Recycling 101 guide here:

Taking a few extra seconds to sort items correctly helps keep our community clean, reduces costs, and ensures recycling is handled properly.
Thank you for your cooperation.
